Helicopter Crewmembers Courses:
Dr. K. J (sep.09) 'Fabulous course, very focussed but well presented with a light touch. Complicated information put over well to 'lay people''
Dr. R.H (sep. 09) 'Excellent course, standard of teaching was outstanding from classroom to flights to dunker tank'
Paramedic A. W. (sep 09) 'Fantastic!!! thank you for an excellent week, the course was very well structured. The level of instructor knowledge and the explanations were brilliant. The air instruction provided was again brilliant'
Dr A. C 'This is a FANTASTIC COURSE taught by professional, enthusiastic people. Was a pleasure to work with them'
D.F. - NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, SRPara, NQEMT, Dip EMT (UCD) 'Any of the previous air ambulance crew training I had undertaken was at Unit level, with people I was working with on a regular basis. So I was a little bit apprehensive about meeting a different group of people and learning new ideas that would clash with anything I'd previously been taught. However, nothing could have been further from the case.
From the outset, due to the very professional atmosphere created in the classroom, it was clear that this was going to be a challenging part of the HEMS Crew Course.
Jim Martin's obvious enthusiasm for his subject is infectious, and by the end of the first day we had all gelled together as our own little unit (Capt. Jim's Flying Circus), and been immersed (literally!) in the world of helicopter air ambulance operations. We were led through the fundamentals of navigation, meteorology, safety and airmanship by a very knowledgeable and informed instructor, who provided plenty of hands-on opportunity for students to practice newly acquired skills.
I thoroughly enjoyed the entire week, and came away with new knowledge, skills and confidence to work as part of an air ambulance crew. I would eagerly recommend participation in this course to all my colleagues, and would very happily return for more.'
Dr S. P. - HEMS, MCEM, DipIMC 'Being a doctor on the Great North Air Ambulance isn't simply a medical role. Every person on the aircraft has to be a competent crew member too, and Captain Martin's thoroughly enjoyable Helicopter Crew Course should be essential for all trainee crew members. It's a well thought out and logical programme, with a strong emphasis on safety and CRM, and there is plenty of time allowed to practice in real time, and in the air, the skills developed in the classroom. Very highly recommended.'Dr. T. W. - MBBS, DRCOG, MRCGP, DipIMC 'I am an Air Ambulance Flight Doctor and BASICS Doctor in Penrith, Cumbria. I completed the Helicopter crewmembers Course at Teeside Airport in September 2006. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole course and learnt a huge amount during the five days. At the end of it felt much better prepared to fly as an Air Ambulance Crew member. The course was extremely well run and organised indeed, so that as well as a being taught a lot of very useful and relevant information it was also most enjoyable. It was a superb mixture of theory work, which was very well put across, combined with a lot of practical experience making the new information easier to learn and assimilate. I still use all that I learnt on the course while flying regularly and can highly recommend this course to you.'

I think we'll need to run another course in a few months time and also get another sea survival course booked in. Again, I very much appreciate your input to our business.'

Mick's sessions were well received by all who commented at a staff meeting on Monday. General view was that it was valuable as a one off following the police, full day, first aid training.
